		<description>Soñando Con Yurumein

	Nawenedühaña Hamou Yurumeina / Soñando con Yurumein / Dreaming of Yurumein is a journey through the realities and dreams of the Garifuna community in New Orleans. Based on a site-specific performance given at the Music Box Village in 2022, Dreaming of Yurumein weaves together music, dance, and oral histories that tell the story of the Garifuna people’s exile from their ancestral home of Yurumein, and their centuries-long struggle against colonization and erasure. This project was co-directed by Pedro Guity, Rü Sanchas, and Jeremy Thal.

		<description>Briars of North America

	Ishtirak is an instrumental trio formed by Samah Boulmona, Dylan Greene, and Jeremy Thal in 2021. Our first album, recorded in post-crisis Beirut, reflects the country’s struggle during a time of economic collapse, scarce electricity, and power outages.&#38;nbsp;
Our self-titled album was produced in collaboration with Lebanese musician Etyen, and released on the Beirut-based Thawra label. It grew out of recorded improvisations, with Samah on a 1986 Alpha Juno II synth, Dylan on drums and percussion, and Jeremy on French horn, melodica, and a worn-out OP-1.
In 2025, a live recording of Ishtirak was featured as part of Fake Lines: Sono Levant,&#38;nbsp; a compilation album featuring artists from across the MENA region. The majority of the revenue generated from this project will directly support grassroots organizations in Palestine.

		<description>Briars of North America

	Briars of North America is a futuristic-chamber-folk group that find inspiration from both traditional and experimental sounds — shape note singing, old-timey string music, etc., as well as free jazz, new classical, and electronic music.

We sometimes refer to our genre as “post-americana” because it reflects a desire to return to a life of simplicity, a way to reorganize human relations outside the context of apocalyptic capitalism, an affirmation of one of our mentor’s sayings: “Simplicity is the new wealth.”

Formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2008, the Briars is the brainchild of second cousins Jeremy Thal and Gideon Crevoshay, and quickly grew to include bassist Greg Chudzik. Over the years the Briars have also included guitarist Simon Jermyn and drummers Tommy Crane and Chuck Staab.

		<description>Street Studios2011-2018

	A street studio is essentially a simple recording and music production setup -- including a laptop, microphone, midi controllers, and easy-to-play instruments such as shakers and tambourines -- into a public place like a street or park. Then passersby are invited to contribute any sound they want: to play a beat on a bad, to record a traditional song, to freestyle a verse, to talk about a dream they had recently, etc. Then those songs are remixed in real time, and more passersby are encouraged to add their sounds, creating a sound-stew that is impossible to recreate, as it’s the record of the creative energies coalescing at a particular place and time. Jeremy developed the Street Studio technique along with Chris Marianetti and Elena Moon Park in the summer of 2011. Here are link to a few memorable Street Studio projects:

		<description>UnkownCollaboration with MITYA

	This is a song I wrote with my dear friend Mitya Burmistov aka MITYA. We produced this together in the depths of the pandemic. I wrote and sang/improvised this tune on one night in Mexico City and then sent it to Mitya in Kazan, Russia, and then in 24 hours he remixed it and made it ready for the big stage. It was then mastered by the masterful Chris Botta in Brooklyn, NY.

		<description>OneBeat

	OneBeat brings together emerging musical leaders from around the world to collaboratively create original work and to develop a global network of civically engaged music initiatives.

Founded in 2012, OneBeat brings musicians (ages 19-35) from around the world to the U.S. for one month each fall to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based social engagement. OneBeat begins with an opening residency, when Fellows collaborate to create original material, record new musical ideas, and incubate their projects. OneBeat fellows then go on tour, performing for a wide array of American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth. During the month, each OneBeat musician also sets out their plans for the future, developing projects in their home countries linked to a mutually-reinforcing network of music-driven social enterprises.
Jeremy co-founder OneBeat along with Chris Marianetti and Elena Moon Park. He worked as co-director of the program from 2012-2022.
