Jeremy Thal is a music producer, composer, educator, multi-instrumentalist & instigator of musical dialogues.

Jeremy Thal works at the intersection of music creativity and social change.

As a performer, Jeremy has recorded and toured with indie rock heavyweights Neutral Milk Hotel and The National, and leads his own band, Briars of North America, which is on the Brassland Label.

As a composer and music producer, Jeremy has worked on an eclectic mix of projects, ranging from sound designing the podcast Black Cowboys, to scoring the steampunk dogfighting game Steambirds, to co-writing trippy electropop tunes with Russian iconoclast MITYA, to developing a multi-media immersive event featuring Garifuna music, culture, dance, and oral histories, at the Music Box Village in New Orleans.

Jeremy co-founded Found Sound Nation (FSN) in 2010, an organization dedicated to building community across cultural divides through the co-creation of original music. Since 2012, FSN has produced OneBeat, a groundbreaking cultural exchange that brings together musicians from around the world to co-create original music and to leverage the power of music for social good. After 12 years serving as co-director of FSN, Jeremy stepped down in 2023 in order to focus full-time on Lost Cousins, Briars of North America, and other creative projects.
